Thomas Viscuso Obituary

Thomas Joseph Viscuso, 89 of Etowah, TN was called to Heaven on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 4:38 a.m. just short of his 90th birthday. He will join his mother, Anna; father, Anthony; and his first wife, Marleen.

Thomas was born on November 16, 1934, to Daniel and Anna Artura. Anna and Daniel divorced and Anna remarried Anthony Joseph Viscuso. At the age of 18 Thomas had his name changed to Thomas Joseph Viscuso to honor his step-father, the man who raised him.

He served six years in the New York National Guard and received a bronze star for his service. Thomas held many jobs throughout his lifetime. He was a master printer, a detective for the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation, a bus driver, and an assistant chief for the Medford Lakes Fire Department.

Thomas was an enthusiastic pracheiner of the martial arts. He earned his 1st black belt in Judo at 18 years old. He earned a brown belt in Ty Kuon Do. He earned a 1st degree black belt in the ching lung Chinese system and a 2ne degree black belt in the Tong Long system. He practiced and taught for over 50 years.

He will be missed by his wife, Stephanie; his sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Michele, Michael and Patricia; four grandchildren, Rachael, Kevin, Anthony and Anastasia; great-granddaughter, Arianna; and great-grandson, Johnathan James.

 A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2024 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.

 No formal visitation will be held.
