Ruth WHEELER Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Holmwood Rest Home on April 5, 2024, in her 94th year. Dearly loved wife of the late James (Rex) Wheeler, dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Pauline (deceased), Lindsay and Leone, Christine and the late Arthur Jones, Nola and Andrew Jones, and the late Janet, loved Nana of Courtenay and Anabelle, Georgina and Parsa; Rochelle and Richard, Kieran; Laura and Andre, and the late Matthew. Loved Great Nana of Jaxon, Briana and Jett. Special thanks to the staff in Wards B2 and BG Burwood Hospital and Holmwood Rest Home for the excellent care Mum received. Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Ruth Wheeler, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In lieu of flowers, donations to St Johns Ambulance would be appreciated, and may be made online at stjohn.org.nz. The funeral service for Ruth will be held in our Rangiora Chapel, Wai-mana, 92 Kippenberger Avenue, Rangiora, on Monday April 15, at 10.30am, followed by a private burial.

Thoughts are with Ruth's family at this time. Ruth was very much a community person and did many thoughtful deeds in the district. I remember the first Christmastime after Alex died when Ruth arrived with a Christmas cake for us. Ruth said she always did so for any local family that had had a death during the year. Just one example of the many thoughtful, caring deeds that Ruth did.
