I, like many other people, had the privilege of working and associating with Steve at Christchurch Men´s Prison when he was a chaplain at the Prison
I only found out through a work associate on the day of his funeral, that your family had lost a gentle and caring family member
I posted the information from the press on the Corrections Facebook page, to ensure that a wider previous working audience was able to know about your tragic loss of a man who was held in very high regard by staff, and of course the inmates of the Christchurch Men´s Prison
To date there has been over 40 responses to my message, all of whom speak very highly of their experience and memory of working with Steve
I would have to say that nothing less would have been expected about a man who touched the hearts of many in that workforce
On behalf of those people we wish to pass on our sincere condolences to your family for your tragic loss
R.I.P Steve

Celebrations in heaven for eternity and condolences for us here on Earth. Steve was a faithful Christian and for that I rejoice. He is one who shaped part of my background as a teenager with his sermons `96-`99. Peace and love,

To Pam and the Ferguson Family - My sincere condolences at the passing of Steve. As a now retired Prison Chaplain I will always remember Steve as a man of sincere faith who was a great help and support to me personally as I embarked on my role in Invercargill Prison around 25 years ago now. He always had a wise encouraging word for me and his retiring from his role in Christchurch Prisons was a real loss to many. May you know the comforting presence of our Lord and Saviour as you work through the departure of Steve, in the assurance of knowing where he has gone to. God bless you all, Jeff & Barbara Low. Invercargill,
