I sorry to hear of Roger´s passing, as I also worked at Barr Burgess and Stewart, my first job. While working there I asked Roger yo partner me at my Debutant ball which we delighted in. We are a great night, and a few nights prior learning to waltz
It was great to be a friend of Roger´s, and for a short time Roger and June were living over the road in Centre street, before I moved to Christchurch

The strangest thing ... last night I was reminiscing on my past after speaking with a school friend from the 1950s & 60s. Lying in bed I thought of the people I worked with at Barr Burgess & Stewart, Chartered Accountants in Invercargill late 1960's / 1970's (bought out by Pricehouse). Pat Service, Walter Weeds, Charlie ?, Mrs Harrington & many more. The one person in my mind who stood out was Roger Barclay. Today, after 53 years of not having thought of these former colleagues, I promised myself to look Roger Barclay's name up on Google only to be shocked and saddened to find his obituary!
Roger was a most optimistic, happy person. A kind man. He was excited about life and was very much in love with June. I recall his last working day before his wedding and he was beaming. And upon his return to work after their honeymoon, Roger just glowed. A man in love with his bride, June.
A lovely work colleague who lifted people's spirits.
June and Roger's family, my sincere condolences.
Best wishes

I knew Roger only casually as a consequence of him reading the electricity meter at my home (a job I'm sure he did primarily to remain active). He was invariably engaging and delightful, usually with a story to tell, and it was always a pleasure to spend a few minutes chatting with him. I found him irrepressibly optimistic, even when relaying the story of his recent heart attack to me earlier this year. I was saddened to learn of his passing, and it is clear to me that "Roger will be greatly missed by all who knew him" is not merely a platitude. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Sincere sympathy to the family on the passing of Roger. I have fond memories of our school days together at the old " Tech". He was one of 3 or 4 males who braved the mostly girls commercial class.
