Barbara Broad's family (John at Nelson, Pat in Roxburgh and Carole in Alexandra) send you our sympathy in your loss. Although we only met a few times, blood is thicker than water, and we respect the contribution Bob made to family, friends and the wider community. His home is an amazing testimony to his skills as a builder. Wood featured through the generations. His granddad was a bushman, miller. Others perfected the art of marquetry. John Broad (cousin) is currently making beautiful model boats from scratch during his retirement in Nelson. In Nebraska, USA, we saw woodwork completed by distant cousins on the Burgess/Johnson branch.
Please accept our apologies for not all being able to attend the funeral service but if it is live streamed we will endeavour to watch.'
Mum appreciated the picture of her grandparents that you passed on to us. Thank you again for that and the photos.
Bless you all as you meet to remember former times and appreciate the present and future without him.

Diane, Glenn Boyd & families. Life delivers some sad moments. Losing Bob is one of those. Over many years I have had the privilege of living my life with Bob involved. 1964 Bob selected me in the Southland u14s Softball side which went to
NZ tournament in Wanganui. What an experience that was. Like most in that team was first trip to North Island. Names i recall from that team, Peter Thwaites Terry Butson Noel Eade John Strachan Gary Thomas Ronnie Mcormack Jim Newell Darryl Shepard . Apoligies to the others i missed out. We were well coached and encouraged to advance in our game. Thank you Bob. Rest in peace. John Pankhurst. Alexandra.

Diane Glen Boyd and families,
Deepest sympathy on the sudden passing of Bob. I have so many memories of the Panthers Senior Team that Dad (Stan Smith) coached. The after match functions. The building of the first Softball Diamond at Surrey Park. It has been a tough week for NZ Softball but I am sure they will Rest in Peace after a great innings and some wonderful memories will be shared.

Dear Diane, We are both thinking of you a lot, especially at this time. Many memories come back to us both, in the particular on meeting you both(and others) and the Savoy a few years back. My memories go back to growing up with him as a neighbor in the 50's at the early of his softball days. He was a good team leader and pleasure to know and play with
Love and Best wishes Lorraine and John Savory (Dunedin)

Diane, Glen and Boyd our deepest condolences on the passing of Bob. We will all miss him, Frank, Tony, Julie and Sarah.
Frank remembers Bob as a great team mate, friend and competitor, especially on one occasion in a rugby match. Frank tackled a blues winger and Roffy came screaming over and gave Frank an ear full about not tackling him hard enough. So Roffy preceded to show Frank how it was done, poor blues winger.

To Diane,
I was sadden to hear that Bob had passed away. I want to share with you a fond memory. I received a phone call from Bob during basic training in 1984 at Waiouru Army Military Camp to advise me that our Panthers softball trip to America was cancelled due to the NZ Govt devalue of the dollar. It was really disappointing news and Bob picked up that I was gutted and made a joke that made me feel better, Bob had that way of turning something wrong into a right on and off the softball diamond, that's why Bob was a good coach for Panthers and Southland Softball. Rest in peace Bob our softball evergreens family will miss ya. My condolences Diane to you and the family.
