Robert Kase Obituary

Robert A. Kase, born May 29, 1953, in Fukuoka, Japan, completed his final voyage on February 23, 2026. A legendary figure in the shipyards of Tacoma and Alaska, Robert was a master of aluminum boat construction and a man who built a life as sturdy as the hulls he welded.

Robert was a celebrated member of the AA community, carrying a sobriety date of August 7, 1990. He was a founding presence at the Regroup meetings in Tacoma's North End and later at the Culver Christian Church in Oregon. His life's motto, "Regroup and Avoid Needs," serves as a beacon for many in the brotherhood of recovery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa "Davey" Kase, whom he loved deeply through her long battle with mental illness. Robert is survived by his children: Cody, Clayton, Robert, Renee and Cara; his daughter-in-law Mackenzie, his sister and brother-in-law Catherine and Jeffrey Cline, and his loyal companion, Arlo.

The family requests that friends from Alaska, the Puget Sound, and Central Oregon send memories to:

I was very fortunate to have such a wonderful and loving brother today this morning at 5 o'clock.I received the news that my brother had moved on to greener pastures. I didn't cry but smiled because we have always supported eachother and was with him for 13 years as he struggled through his injuries. He was the best brother a girl could have. Never did he ever say a cruel word to me. I will always be sending you love and singing our songs on my guitar. This picture I took this morning to let you know I love you brother. Lovingly your sister

My brother was very special. Not only was he a mastership builder, he was an incredible guitarist, and his singing voice was better than anyone I have ever heard. He had the biggest heart, most loving and generous man. And my best friend, I will miss you. My brother and I really thank McKenzie and Cody for taking such good care of my brother too. I'm very proud of you kids.
