Very sorry Peter left before I could get in touch with him again. I was one of his trainees in 1970 and he provided good mentorship and a fatherly interest. I am most grateful for the training received in broadcasting technical work and have since used every bit I learnt. It was good training. Thank you Peter.
The family were still young when they left New Plymouth so I did not get to know them but you have my condolences. A good man.

Peter's book Discovering Vintage Radio motivated me to start restoring radios. In recent times He was still submitting clever well designed and constructed entries to the NZVRS annual competition and winning certificates. He was always helpful with restoration advice and friendly to correspond with. Peter will be missed.

The New Zealand Vintage Radio Society is saddened to learn of the passing of foundation and life member, Peter Lankshear. Peter made a huge contribution to vintage radio over a long period through his regular articles for numerous publications, including our own NZVRS Bulletin.
He witnessed major developments in electronics throughout his life and recognised the importance of researching, documenting and preserving bygone technology. His expertise encompassed every aspect of vintage radio, from fault finding to rewinding coils and transformers, to technical documentation. His workmanship was first-class and admired by many.
He helped and inspired many radio enthusiasts and will be missed.

Hello David, Vanessa and Jim,
My condolences on the passing of your father Peter. During their New Plymouth days I enjoyed the dinner discussions. It was at this time the radio station 2XP was our common link relating to the North Egmont translator tower. The winter access to the transmission site was the challenge we shared. ‘Mother Iris’ was the excellent cook and former secretary at Ivon Watkins Buller Street.
Peter and Iris were great team leaders. I hold many fond memories of them and their family, including the diner we shared with yourselves and Peter in your new New Plymouth home.
Sincerely yours

I worked with Peter at 2XP/ZP from 1958 until 1972 when he left New Plymouth for a position in Invercargill. He was my mentor and my friend.
Love and condolences to David, Vanessa and Ken and families.

Sorry to hear of Peters passing. Peter used to live next door to my mother Myra Mclaren in Racecourse Road. Mum often spoke of Peter. They used to have yarns over the fence often. He was a great neighbour. Thinking of you all at the sad time. Regards Anne& Darrell Moodie.

Sincere sympathy to the family. Peter was a colleague, if I remember rightly of my late father, Jack Harrow (NZBC). Both shared a love of vintage radios which they faithfully restored.
