I just learned the sad news of Peter´s passing in the journal Pharmacy Today. Peter was great enthusiast in his early employment as a Pharmacologist with ICI NZ Ltd in the Pharmaceuticals Division of the Health Care Division. In (late 70´s early 80´s) those days we had great fun in the "Golden Days " of BigPharma at meetings conferences etc.Peter was a very expressive fun outgoing friend who has caught up with me on various occasions since. He certainly had an altruistic streak and really saw through the blocks in the system disadvantaging patients and progress in the health system. We discussed these at length. I never met his wife and family over the years but pass on my condolences. Penelope my wife and I remember Peter well from way back then.

My fondest memory of Peter was from around 2010. I had came back from Australia for a holiday. Jessie and Jonathan had came up to Christchurch to pick me up. We had decided to stay with Aunty Enid for the night. Jonathan had been drinking and as a consequence.needed to pee what felt like every 10mins. It was a long trip to Dunedin. Peter cooked us a lovely meal. I was quite annoyed with Jonathan so I said to Peter I was concerned about Jonathan's health and asked him to have a chat with him. Peter obliged without hesitation, much to Jonathan's embarrassment and my joy and delight. And to be fair I learnt a lot about prostate problems . He has always been the go to for medical advice and clarity. When Jessie got covid he was extremely helpful in telling me what to ask for with her doctor.
It made a big difference in her care. Peter was always passionate about the family origins and dedicated a lot of time to researching the family history. When he was visiting Invercargill he would call in and have a catch up with Jessie. She loved it when he bought Enid with him so they could catch up. Family was always important to him.

I met Peter when I worked at Hatearangi Pharmacy in Tokomaru Bay, in 1980. Peter was planning to go and study in the US but things didn´t work out quite as planned. He was definitely a passionate advocate for pharmacy and seemingly never content with the Little Picture. I last saw him at the pharmacy school reunion a few years back. He was as voluble and passionate as ever. I´m saddened to hear of his death. I am sure he has inspired many pharmacists to follow their dreams
