Owen BUCKINGHAM Obituary

BUCKINGHAM,
Owen David (Buck):
1946 - 2023
Owen died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, May 25, 2023. Deeply loved husband and best friend of Mary for over 53 years. Devoted father and father-in-law of Cheryl and Andy Langford (Queenstown); David and Serena Buckingham (Queenstown); and cherished grandad "Buck" of Ben, Matthew, and Luca. At Owen's request, a private family cremation has been held. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who has been privileged enough to have known Owen to come to a celebration of his life on Wednesday, May 31 at the Te Anau Events Centre at 1.30pm and to stay on afterwards for Buck's "final shout." In lieu of flowers, donations to the Neurological Foundation would be appreciated. Messages to 8B Golf Course Road, Te Anau 9679.

If there ever was a guy who fit all those down to earth cliches like salt of the earth or he called a spade a spade, Owen was that guy! He was forthright and sincere. It was a joy to work with him on the Alliance board and other groups. He was a valuable asset to Southland's farming industry in so many ways. A job well done, may he rest in peace.

My sincere sympathy to Mary and family to the sad loss of Owen. He will be sorely missed. A good man who made a difference. I have fond memories of him in the rural fatuity and the Mc Kinnan Club during my time in Te Anau.
