Neil CLARK Obituary

On January 21, 2025, peacefully at Ngaio Marsh Retirement Village, Christchurch, aged 87 years. Loved husband of the late Jill, dearly loved father and father-in-law of Jo, Susan and Roger, Alison and Tony, Stephanie and Pete, beloved Pop of Amy-Louise, and Hannah; Emma, and Libby; Gregor, and Callum; and Olivia, Great-Pop of Louis, and Charlie. Cherished brother of the late Joan. Special thanks to the staff at Ngaio Marsh for all the love, care and kindness given to Neil. Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Neil Clark, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. The funeral service for Neil will be held in our Oaklands Chapel, corner of Halswell Junction and Wigram Roads, Halswell, Christchurch, on Friday, January 31, at 10.00am, followed by a private burial.

Gosh was just talking about Neil a week ago to some family. I worked at N E Clark and Associates upstairs over the electricians in Mersey street in Gore in the early 1970s. I worked there as typist, office person, with John Good, Harold Lonie and Mark Wilson. I enjoyed the job, learnt how to draught plans etc and what it was like to work in an office full of blokes. Very entertaining to say the least! I used to babysit you girls when you were younger and lived "up the hill". Really liked your Mum Jill. I left to work on the Milford Track and then settled in Te Anau. Randomly discovered that your auntie Joan was Neil's sister after she shifted to Te Anau.
Am so sad to hear of your Dads passing. I have many fond (and funny) memories of my time spent in that upstairs office.
