Father McGettigan was a great friend to the Graham family, previously from Clinton and latterly Dunedin. He is fondly remembered by our extended family and friends as a man of great compassion and faith.
Our thoughts are with his family.

Father McGettigan was great solace to our mother when our Dad died at the age of 34 years in 1979. Fr was the priest at Tuatapere parish, St Theresa's. He visited our house often in the eyar after Dad died, bought boiled sweets for my siblings and I and was always extrememly kind and reassuring. I often think of him at this time of the year as our Dads anniversary is 18 Nov so I was sad to read of his passing. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.

Fr Merv I remember clearly the times you visited us while you were studying at Holy Cross. Since then our paths have crossed so often, what an inspiration you have been in my life in my walk with Jesus. Rest in peace faithful servant of God.

It is with sadness that we read of the passing of our late Dad's (Ron Brown) cousin Mervyn. Dad spent a lot of time over the years visiting Mervyn when he was in Nightcaps and many other places. Dad will be pleased to be reunited with him in Heaven .
Love from Wendy and Robyn Brown.
