Mary BUTLER Obituary

RN Peacefully at Resthaven on November 10, 2023. Aged 100 years and 8 months surrounded by her loving family. Lived all of her life at Riversdale. Beloved eldest daughter of Tom and Molly Hodge of Riversdale. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Harry* and Jean (Geraldine) Sylvie and Bob Laughton (Blenheim). Loved wife of Eric*. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of John and Colleen (Cromwell), Judy and Richard (Ardlussa), Irene and Kevin (Waikaka), Bill and Mandy (Waikaka). Adored Gran of Joc and Owen, Chris and Leigh, Mark and Sonia, James and Rosie, Jacqui, Anita*, Natalie and Michael, Gemma and Sandy, Claire, Olivia, Luci and Tom. Great Gran to Kaylee, Oli, Blaine, Rylan, Ashlyn, Charlie, Albie, Archie and Maisy. Life member of Riversdale Golf Club, Margaret was also involved in numerous community and sport groups in the area. We would like to acknowledge the devoted care by the staff at Resthaven, Gore. A private family service will be held. Messages to PO Box 15, Riversdale 9744. *denotes deceased.

Margaret was a valued life member of the Riversdale Ladies Golf Club. Memories were shared today after golf around the afternoon tea table of Margaret's days on and off the course. Our sincere condolences to the families. RIP Margaret.

Mrs Butler ,what an amazing life a whole Century Plus 8 months Rest in Peace .Our sympathies to those left behind .We hope someone can document the incredible changes you lived through telephone, airoplanes ,TV ,computors microwaves ,to name a few any one of these totally mind boggling for the most recent generations .Thankyou for sharing your family .we consider ourselves privileged to count Judy [from since our training days at Kew both proud to graduate NZRN &MN like her Mum] & Richard as friends our thoughts are with them & all your family's at this time .To you & ALL of them remember the laughter & delights & look closely, many amongst you will have perhaps a mannerism ,a reaction to some situations that will be pure Mum so feel comforted by her legacy .Rest In Peace Mrs Butler. I have very fond memories of her during my time in Riversdale as a stock agent, having many a cup of tea with her and Eric at their farm.
