Mrs Bircham (the name I always used for her even in adulthood) was the first teacher who ever showed me kindness and took me under her wing. She fostered in me a love of learning and for that I will be forever grateful. I was always filled with joy when I saw her at church and I will miss her immensely. She will forever be one of my favorite teachers and one of my favorite people. I am honored to have had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in Peace. My love and condolences to the family. Friends in Napier have kindly phoned me to tell me of Mary´s death. It was always good to pop into see her whenever I went home to the Bay. I have many happy memories of time spent with Mary and as I read the funeral notice you all come to mind as you were growing up and starting your own families!!! Mary was a very devoted dedicated teacher and with her long years of service she would have taught thousands to read and learn the skills needed to live life fully. She would also have prepared children for First Communion and encourage her pupils to grow in their love of God. May the good Lord now give her the fullness of love and life as she returns home to her God who she served so faithfully. May you all hold many loving memories in your heart of this good woman who loved you all and always wanted the best for you. It has been my privilege to know her and Reignier School was blessed to have her as such a good influence on the lives of all whom she taught. Blessings, care, prayer and support to all of you, her family. Anne-Marie
