Martin James (Marty):
After a courageous battle, passed peacefully at Dunstan Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 26, 2020, aged 69 years. Dearly loved companion and special friend of Helen McCarthy. Loving father and father-in-law of Brendon and Shelley, Aj and Lisa, Geoffrey and Megan, Danni, Hayden and Lydia. Much loved and special friend of Kerri and Gay. Loving Grandad Marty of Blake, Brody; Lochie, Bella: Seth and Daniel; Loved son of the late James and Blanche Cornish, and loved brother of the late Debbie Littlejohn. Special thanks to the staff at Dunstan Hospital. A service to celebrate Marty's life will be held in the Lake Hawea Community Centre, 28 Myra Street, Lake Hawea, on Thursday, July 2 at 2.00pm, followed by a private cremation. Marty it was a real pleasure knowing you amd being able to assist you in your care. A true down to earth bloke who was passionate in all he did. You will be sorely missed, but know that you are now resting with your Heavenly Father whom you loved.

I met Marty through him shearing my small flock of sheep at Makarora and his huge heart and kind compassionate nature always shone through everything he did!! Every now and then he shouted money towards the Auckland homeless lady I worked with being taken out for a coffe and cake - and he always had a kind encouraging word to share. One of life's true gentlemen - he will be missed by many and a bright light has left our world but is now shining brightly in heaven!!! You ran a good race Marty and you overcame much - no wrys, you're now sweet as indeed!!

I remember the holidays we shared at the outlet motor camp in Wanaka. Our families all under canvas, enjoying time in the sun and on the water. Those were the days. RIP Marty and say hi to Jerry for me :)
