Marion Wood Obituary

Obituary for Marion J. Wood
In Loving Memory
Marion J. Wood
January 29, 1929 - November 13, 2024
MEXICO, NY - Her soul blessed this Earth with her presence for 95 beautiful years, starting on January 29, 1929. Born the daughter to the late George and Jeanette Ladd of Mexico, NY. and ended peacefully at Seneca Hill Manor, Oswego NY on Wednesday November 13, 2024.
Marion, Mom, Ma, Gram, Grandma Wood, Gramma Woo Woo, Mitty, Woody went by many a lovingly given name.
She was a home maker and housekeeper for many friends in Mexico, NY. She was a proud member of her hometown in Mexico, NY. You could often find her buying a Mexico, NY sweatshirt from Crandall's or Kinney's. She frequented The Big M - now known as Tops every day of the week. Marion was an avid knitter and crocheter, making many a blanket for her many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved puzzles, crosswords, word search, number search and feeding the birds. Marion loved watching Monday night football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed Baseball, watching the NY Yankees games, Derek Jeter was her favorite. And, then her golf because she loved Tiger Woods. She had quite the green thumb and always had a beautiful summer garden filled with delicious veggies, watermelon, squash, pumpkins and sunflowers. Marion had a playful sense of humor and was always happy to see each and every one of her family and friends and genuinely wanted to know everything about everyone. She truly cared.
Marions biggest and proudest accomplishment was her family. She raised 9 children on her own after the early death of her loving husband Louis H Wood. Those 9 children made families of their own and gave her an abundance of grandchildren and those grandchildren gave her an abundance of great-grandchildren and even some great-great grandchildren. Marion loved to be there for her family, it was her true calling, and she was the epitome of "Showing Up Matters". Marion helped her children by helping raise her grandchildren by babysitting for many of us while they worked. She tried to make it to all her grand and great grandchildren's activities, sports, accomplishments, ceremonies, birthdays, anything, you name it she tried to show up for them all. Quite a feat when you have as many as she did. She wove the meaning of family, connection and love, that stays in all of us with her holiday get togethers, where she, the very best cook would make a feast for an army with delicious food and homemade pies to boot. She showed her love with acts of service and acts of love. She loved visiting or going out to eat with any of her children, grandchildren and friends. Her family was her life and that is what truly made her happy.
Marion is predeceased by: her husband Louis H. Wood, a daughter Marianne Shomo, a son Louis J. Wood, her parents George and Jeanette Ladd, 3 sisters, Erma, Anne and Margureite and 4 brothers George, Jake, John and Bill.
Survived by: Sons, Douglas and Bradley Wood from Mexico, Daughters, Luanne (Jerry) Thayer of Parish, Peggy (Randy) Foertch of Cicero, Sandra Watson (Frank) of Pulaski, Brenda Fleming of Mexico, and Sherrie (Chipp) Van Allen of Central Square. A brother Donald (Sue) Ladd of Mexico and an abundance of loving, adored by her, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
