My condolences to you all. It has been a very long time since we camped on the farm under the care of Brown Owl' Tui and Lionel . Such memories ! I remember going out on the lambing beat when staying with Nicola and it was such a great experience for a townie. 100 years young ... what an achievement. Love to you all .

My condolences to the family. Lionel and the lovely Tui were so welcoming when I stayed a few weekends with Jill during our high school years. All those stones in the paddocks, but they did not deter him. That is character. And their home was always warm and friendly.

HMS Erebus, our Centurion Sailor crewed on this ship in the WW2 D Day landings.

Very sad to see our ol cobber has called time out. Lionel married a 1st cousin of my mother, so saw quite a lot of him when they lived at Fairfax then later Te Anau. Did a couple of lambings with him when 1st on the farm at Te Anau, when you could fire a shotgun down main street and hit nothing. Thankfully called in to see him in September and wished him a very happy birthday, got some photos and a vid. Was sharp as with long term memory and pumped him for some info regards D Day and his navy career. How he got out here to NZ and in between. We had many a conversation about cricket, his vision for his farm, he never mentioned the war years, and it was much later we knew he served with the Royal Navy, yes good days, fond memories. Well done true and faithful servant. Very sorry wont be up for his service, so pass on my best wishes to the girls and their families. Wayne Muntz Riverton.
