Dear Sylvia and family, our heartfelt best wishes as you deal with the loss of Les. That man was one of the great people...a treasure of a person. It's a little hard imagining that life force coming to an end!

Dear Sylvia and family. I was sad to learn of your loss via Southland relatives. My father Kendal Balch and Les were the best of friends sharing their common interests over many decades. We loved catching up when we journeyed south. Our family is now very depleted with the loss of Dad then Mum last year as well as our sister Helen at Christmas. Thoughts are with you all at this sad time.

In 1967 Les gave me my first job. I was positioned only about 3 metres from him. Wonderful boss and mentor. He helped me, and generously complimented me. Thank you Les. Terry Crandle

Dear Sylvia and family
Jenny and I are so sorry to hear of Les´s passing.
I will never forget the 4 years that I had the pleasure to work under Les in Auckland from 1972 to 1976.
Our friendship has carried on up until now, I was so pleased to have chatted with him only 2 weeks ago.
They will wonder what has struck them in heaven as he will bring a breath of fresh air.
Good bye my dear friend until we meet again.
