I have just watched John's service on the live stream. You all did him proud with a fitting farewell. Thoughts are with you all at this difficult time and I hope your memories keep him close to your hearts, which I am sure they will. Deepest sympathy to you, Nanny Kay

Arohanui mai, moe mai ra, moe mai Kay, Sharon and all your whanau. Thank you for live streaming so that I could watch from here in Twizel where I'm visiting with Uncle Ron Williamson and the Glenbrook Station family.
Seeing Ronnie Davis conduct the service, and Swampy talk of John's connections to shearing sports and the NZ Contractor's Association was ever so poignant. John and Ronnie were my points of contact when in 1998/99 I did my Waikato University Masters Thesis on NZ shearing contractors experience of the ACC scheme.
I'll never forget my summer shearing for John and Kay. It was my first year in the senior grade when John encouraged me and Joe Clark to do the southern circuit. John was happy to give us time a day off, or two if necessary, to go to the competitions and he was always there too, in the background doing points or judging, and after we'd shorn, always wanting to know how we did.
I pass on greetings from my Williamson family as I know that John was always so proud of his family. John would've been delighted as Uncle Ron Williamson was at Sharon's wool classer skills and her (and Glenbrook Station's) achievement to score the winning fleece in New Zealand last year.
My condolences to the family and may John rest in peace. A mighty totara has fallen.
Taku mihi ki te whanau, kia okioki a John. He totara kaha kua hinga.
