To Heather and all the family I was shocked & saddened to hear of the passing of John ,as I send u all my heartfelt sympthy to u all at this very sad and testing time . As I found him to be a good friend to me in my times of need as he was a truly good man that will be well and truly missed his many friends and family far and wide .So to u all stay strong .All my love to u all .

Heard there was big party in Heaven this week. John said "It was a blast!" What an awesome man and what a privilege to have known him. He will never be forgotten for his quick witty jokes and puppet show for the kids talk. Can't wait to see him again when he will be young and healthy and pain free.

John, we only met once at a Global Disciples retreat, but I was so touched by your authentic personality and deep love for Jesus and those you pastored. Rejoicing with you in your current position; grieving with those left behind who will miss your caring and loving heart. May the ministry God gave you be multiplied exponentially in the lives of those you touched.

Mum enjoyed Johns visits and reminiscing about the old times in Grange Street and the fun the kids had growing up. They were fun times and the street became very quiet when we all moved away. No more blocking it off so we could play on the road.

Kind wishes to John's family.
I didn't know him well but after a cheeky conversation at Dee Street Night n Day dairy I discovered he was a Winton boy growing up a few years ahead of this Winton girl. I realised soon enough that he had a good sense of humour and I think he would have laughed if he knew that I thought he'd arrived at the dairy on a motorbike as he came in with his leather jacket on. Just thought I'd share with you the way he made an impression on someone else.

Dear Heather, Peter, Stephen, Bevan & Michael & families, my deepest love & sympathy to you all. I am sorry that I will not be able to be there with you to say good bye to John. I am so grateful for the experience of living with you all in the "glasshouse" all those years ago, for the love & support for Rachel & myself, for the laughter, for the example of Christianity in the flesh. He was full of fun & larger than life, but always called you out if he thought you needed it. You will all miss him so much. Now he is without pain. I always remember the day I made Sunday lunch, homemade Boston baked beans, real from stratch & not out of tin, but he was horrified & never let me forget it, I don't think I made Sunday lunch after that. Haha hahaha.

Wow what can I say. When I first came to Riversdale to help with the DTS at the hub you were so welcoming and became a big part of my life as I lived there for two years. I used to love hearing your sermons they were always full of humour and stories. You were a great friend and pastor. Thank you for been my MC at my wedding that will always be in my memory and heart. To me John You were the epitome of Of a true man of God who brought to Your Church Family the good down to earth and good old fashion Gospel, the way it should. Not overcoated, straight to the point. Your manner was truly riotous in every sense. It was a pleasure listening to God speaking through youmy Brother. I pray for peace for your family at this time. Heather, Alan and I have wonderful memories of you both Mosgiel 1975-82 John had such a wonderful sense of humour which lead us to choose him for the MC at at our wedding 1983. FB kept us in touch and I so admire his passion for Christ right until the end. heaps of love to all the family. Jenny Paterson.

Dearest Heather and family, I was so sad to hear of John's passing. Whilst it will be a relief that he is no longer in pain, it in no way lessens the grief that you will all be feeling at this time. John was an inspiration to us all with his vitality and sheer 'we'll give it a go' attitude along with 'C.H.O.P' change of plan. He made a mighty impression on Warwick and myself, often recalling things he said, or did or encouraged us to do that never in a million years would we have contemplated. He was an incredible man of God and no doubt will be sorely missed by many. I send my Love. thoughts and Prayers to you, in the hope they will bring comfort over the following days, weeks and years. Father blessed us by letting us know John and his influence on our lives was good. I am sorry we didn't get to know him better but so privileged to have met him.
