Jerry Castelli Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces that Jerry Castelli, 60, of Grafton passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved on at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital on Thursday December 11, 2025.
Beloved husband of Lori (nee-Herrick), cherished father of Mianda (fianc�, Zach Zweirecki), stepfather of Shannon Walker (Kim) and Mike Plumley (Danielle). Devoted brother of Troy and Paul Castelli. Brother-in law of Lisa and David Allen and Bob Herrick. Step-grandfather of 9 and loving companion to his goldendoodle, Jibber. Preceded in death by parents, Gino and Dolores Castelli.
Jerry grew up Independence OH. where he made many lifelong friends, including his closest, Tim Stopper.
After obtaining his RN degree at the University of Akron, Jerry spent the next 38 years in nursing. First at Southwest General Medical Center in Middleburgh Hts. As a surgical RN followed by 25 years at Cleveland VA Medical Center as RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assist) in Urology Surgery.
Those who knew Jerry remember his fondness for playing practical jokes and his always lending a helping hand to anyone in need.
Jerry's faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He truly made the world brighter simply by being in it.
Visitation will be held at Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria, OH. from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday December 22, 2025. Burial will immediately follow at Brookdale Cemetery 41600 Oberlin Elyria Road, Elyria.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those wishing to honor Jerry's memory consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Friendship APL 8303 North Murray Ridge Rd. Elyria, Ohio 44035.
