Charles W. Bales, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Bales was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Baltimore, Md., the son of the late Frank and Grace Bowers Bales. Charles was a graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School. He served in the Army during the Koran Era, in the Counter Intelligence Corps from 1951 until 1953. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446 of Mt. Pleasant. Charles had been employed by the former A&P Store as a clerk for 32 years. He then worked for the former H.C. Frick Hospital as a nursing assistant until his retirement. He is survived by his loving family; his longtime friend, William L. Zundel; his brother, Donald Bales and his wife, Louise, all of Mt. Pleasant, his sister-in-law, Olive Mae Bales, of Scottdale; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Bales. As per the wishes of Mr Bales, his visitation and funeral service will be private, with his close friend, the Rev. Shirley J. Farino, officiating. Private interment will be in the Mt.
