A lovely man who you will miss but you'll have some wonderful memories to hold and share. Thinking of you all at this time. A pleasure to catch up with some of you recently.

My Sincere Sympathy, to the McPhail Family.I was not able to attend Neil's
service, but my thoughts were with you all.

Thank you for making Neil´s service available on livestream. Wonderful tributes from his family and friends. Neil was my eldest Smith cousin. My mother Honor was Neil´s mother´s youngest sister. I have childhood memories of staying at Holly Terrace when our family travelled to the South Island annually.
Condolences and love to Neil´s family.

Dear McPhail Family
My thoughts are with you all with the sad passing of Neil. Neil was a true gentleman who was non judgmental and ready with words of support and wisdom. I am sorry I couldn't attend today but will be there in spirit and online.

i didnt know james personally but i know the family very well richard and steph and others are good family friends of ours may god make you shine beneath the rainbow may god care and love for you for your finally rest hugs to all the mcphail family for this hard passing of James may he rest in peace until you meet him again From Ella Heads - Robbie heads granddaughter

I am very disappointed not to be there in Gore today with my 5 cousins, to say good bye to a great guy who played a big role in his son's lives but also in mine. But I am happy with the thought that my very dear Uncle has left us pretty much as he would have wanted. Pretty much self sufficient and independent until the end. There will be some great stories and fond memories shared today, thats for sure.

Farewell my eldest cousin. A long and diligent life well lived.

Neil was a good friend as well as a cousin and we have many memories of time with him, and we thank God for Neil's life and faith.
Sorry we are not able to be with you in person on the 2nd May but our thoughts and prayers will be with you all.
May you know God's peace and his love as you say farewell to your patriarch.

Our condolences to the McPhail Boys and their families on Neil's passing. Have some great memories of conversations with him over many years at Waikaka Vallley and latterly in Gore. Sorry not able to be at Neil's farewell.

We have great memories of Neil due to his various connections in the Gore area that we were involved in with him. To all the McPhail family our sincere condolences at this sad time for you all. Neil is now at rest and flying free. Patricia & Allan Boyer
