George TONKING Obituary
TONKING, George Harvey On Wednesday, August 16, 2017, George passed away at the age of 93. Born in Kent England to Elizabeth May (nee Lee) and Henry Charles Tonking. Upon the death of his father (1926), George and his mother arrived in Canada. Following graduation in 1943 from Toronto's Parkdale Collegiate, George volunteered for military service. He served with the Royal Regiment of Canada during the liberation of Holland. After graduation from Victoria University, George enjoyed fulfilling careers with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and the Province of Ontario. George was predeceased by his wartime sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Muriel (2002). Loving father of Deb and her husband Dean and very proud Poppa of Chelsea and Paige. Predeceased by brothers Alan (2015) and Geoff (2014). Heartfelt thanks to Seasons Milton Retirement/ Memory Care. We will forever be grateful to the wonderful staff and caregivers who made George's 2 year stay and most importantly, his final weeks, full of love, hugs, kisses and dignity. We will miss his dry sense of humour and wit. Private family inurnment has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to The War Amps.
