Fredrick BENFELL Obituary

After many a battle with my health, I let go this time on Monday, September 11, 2023, to join my parents Bert and Isabelle Benfell and my top working dog "Darky". Thank you to my amazing wife, Jeanette Benfell. Your love, devotion, kindness, and support allowed me to live a longer life, more than I could imagine. I would like others to show support and love to my two sons, Nathan Benfell and Hamish Benfell, my sisters Lorrianne Borthwick, Joy Murray, Irene Benfell – Herron, my brother Stewart Benfell, and all their families in my absence. I didn't want fuss nor sorrow, so I chose to have a private burial with my family and close friends. I would also like to acknowledge all the district nurses, carers and the team at Baillie and Lewis Pharmacy who offered such amazing support to me over a number of years. Until we meet again, Fred Benfell.

I was saddened to read of Freds passing. We lived on the same road at Colac Bay and I took Fred to school the first week. He was such a quiet lad and I recall the Xmas he got his first bike he rode down to our house so My Dad could see him on it and of course Fred rode it up to my Dads bedroom. I met up with his folks in Gore some time later. My sympathy to his wife and family. Shona Fordyce.nee Crengle of Colac Bay.

Fred was a great friend and neighbour for the years at Makarewa Freezing works in the small community. I used to look after Fred's first dog Bob and then Kit when he was on holiday.
Farewell old friend and love to all the family you so enjoyed.

8 January 1951 – 10 September 2023 Dearly loved son of Isabella and Albert (Bert) Benfell. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Lorraine Borthwick, Stewart Benfell, Joy and Colin Murray, and Irene and Dave Herron. Loved uncle and great-uncle. "Rest in Peace" Private interment has taken place.
