Born Dec. 10, 1931, in Clarksburg, he was a son of the late Dean Eugene and Anna Marie (Lukehart) Clawson. He lived in Clarksburg before moving to Apollo 37 years ago. He was employed by Allegheny Ludlum in Vandergrift, as a furnace operator, having retired in 1994. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Clawson attended the Apollo United Presbyterian Church, and was a former member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg. He was a member of the VFW in Saltsburg, the Eagles Club, and enjoyed baseball and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Clawson is survived by his wife of 22 years, Opal Darlene (Frain) Clawson, Apollo; five daughters: Tamara Miller of Pittsburgh, Jolene McCall of Spartansburg, S.C., Crystal Lauster of Rural Valley, Samantha Dawn Clawson of Pittsburgh, and Deana Marie Clawson of Apollo; two sons, William II of Rock Hill, S.C., and Daniel Allen Brown of Spring Church; and four grandchildren. Also surviving him are seven sisters: Margaret "Peg" Dixon and husband Edgar, of Clarksburg, Irene Criswell of Kiski Township, Dorothy Martin and husband Bill, of Jeannette, Barbara Heath and husband Ronald, of Wilmington, N.C., Janie Peters and husband Frank, of Clarksburg, Evelyn Lewis and husband Rodney, of Little Rock, Ark., and Carol Carrick and husband Tom, of Saltsburg; and three brothers: James and wife Janet, of Arcadia, Fla., Robert and wife Dorothy, of Clarksburg, and Richard and wife Donna, of Cropwell, Ala. Services were held Thursday in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home, Apollo. Intement was made in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15205.
