July 9, 1928 - February 8, 2026
With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of Ernest at Southland Hospital, in his 98th year, with family by his side. Dearly loved husband and friend of Gaye, and the late Noeline. Treasured dad, father-in-law, grandad and great-grandad of Dianne and Ian McCall, Steven and Cara, Fletcher, Dawson and Baxter. Aaron and Nicole, Maddison and Paige; Colin and Lizzie, Brittney and Mason; Roger and Bronwyn, Lara and Tyler, Albie. Erica and Brook, Koa, Tui and Rocky. Keiran and Katie, Lockie and Harper; Pauline and Russell Foster, Hamish and Ana, Flynn and Arihia. Rhys and Maddy, Freddie, George and Jude, and Blair. Respected stepfather of Jacqui Paterson, Jayne White and Daryl Gellatly and grandfather to their families. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Southland Hospital for their loving care this past week. A service to celebrate Ernest's life will be held in the Winton Presbyterian Church, Meldrum Street on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11.00am, followed by Ernest's burial at the East Winton Cemetery.
