Elsie POWLEY Obituary

Peacefully, after a short illness, on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Southland Hospital, aged 91 years. Loved daughter of Charles* and Olive*, and sister of Charlie* and Margaret*, Ian* and Nola*, Shirley* and Owen*. Dearly loved wife of the late Arthur (Cowboy) and the late Rex. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Sheryle, Annette* and Ross, John and Kay, and step mother to Stephen and Jo. Cherished by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A very much loved aunt of Sandra and Matthew, Kristina and Nicki, and all her nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Elisie's life will be held in the Bluff Community Church, cnr Palmer and Foyle Streets, Bluff, on Thursday, March 14 at 1.30pm, the service will conclude with a burial at the Greeenpoint Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Southland Hospice would be appreciated. Messages to 118 Barrow Street, Bluff 9814.

Sorry to hear Auntie Elsie has died. She was last of that generation. Neil has tested positive today so I won't come to funeral. You will be talking over lots of happy memory of your child hood and looking at lots of photos. Will he thinking of you all tommorow Daphne and Neil Salter.

So very sorry to hear that Elsie has passed away. I remember being at Rex and Elsies wedding nearly 40 years ago. I have very fond memories of how happy they made each other. It was a delight to see Uncle Rex so incredibly happy because of Aunty Elsie, she brought so much joy in to his life. I remember the beautiful holidays they went on overseas with my dad Bing Powley.
