Edith Marie Nordby (Gustafson)
Edith Marie Nordby (Gustafson), of Glenview, Illinois, passed April 8, 2025 at Whitehall of Deerfield and Residential Hospice.
Edith was born March 7, 1939 in Hibbing, Minn., to Harold and Aili (Lillquist) Gustafson. Edith graduated from Hibbing High School, Class of 1957.
After graduation she moved to St. Paul. While in St. Paul she met the love of her life, David H. Nordby. Edith and Dave were married July 16, 1960. They continued their life together in Illinois.
Edith earned a degree in data processing from Oakton Community College. She taught keyboarding and word processing at Hoffman Elementary. Edith later worked at Kraft/General Foods in Glenview, Illinois as an administrative assistant. Edith enjoyed tennis and golf. Edith and Dave traveled extensively throughout their life together.
In 2016, she became a resident of Valley Lo Towers in Glenview. Here she met many many new friends.
Edith enjoyed card games, book clubs and lunching with her many old and new friends. Edith was a wonderful, caring and generous friend to all.
Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David H. Nordby; mother and step-father, Edward J. and Aili L. Kemp; father, Harold Gustafson; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Doris Nordby, brother, William Gustafson, sister-in-law, Judy Nordby, brother-in-law, Clyde H. "Butch" Barr, Jr., niece, Theresa "Teri" Maki; and nephew-in-law, Dr. Mark Versich.
Edith is survived by her loving daughter, Debbie (Steven) Kleinhardt; cherished granddaughter, Alyssa Kleinhardt; sisters: Margaret Barr, Elizabeth (Peter) Scalice, and Sally (Lee) Benedict; brother-in-law, Bruce Nordby; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Gustafson; nieces and nephews: Kimberly (Scott) Myrdahi, Kristen (Robert) Levac, Melissa Versich, Clyde Barr III, Holly (Eric) Rewertz, April Beel, Shane Beedy, Darren (Denise) Gustafson, Melinda (James) Burton, Mark (Kris) Gustafson; and many great and grand nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to The Salvation Army.
