Dorothy YOUNG Obituary

Of Rose Lodge, formerly of Rata Road, Otatara. Passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in her 96th year. Dearly loved wife of Jim*; cherished mother and mother-in-law of Peter and Anne, Stephanie McLaughlin, Maria and Alec* McNee, Mark and Jude, John and Xiaolu, Paul and Gail, Andrea and Allan Ladbrook, Richard and Sheryl, Christine and Peter Pryde, Brendan and Donna, Louise and Bruce Alsop, Owen and Sarah. Much loved Nana of her 44 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. Loved sister and sister-in-law of the Greer and Young families. Special thanks to Rose Lodge for their wonderful care and loving friendships she made during her last few years. A service to celebrate the life of Dorothy will be held in St Mary's Basilica, Tyne Street, Invercargill on Monday, March 25, at 2.00pm, followed by interment at Eastern Cemetery. Messages can be sent to either 89 Ruru Ave, Otatara or 106 Oreti Road, Otatara, Invercargill, or to Dorothy's tribute page where there will be a Livestream link to the service.

I'm so sorry that we could not be there to honour Aunty Dorothy's life alongside her family at this time. We watched it online what an amazing service you all did for her, she would have been proud of you all. She is one amazing lady, she made everyone who knew her feel special, being her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or nieces or Nephews that was special gift for everyone. Love to your family from ours we will miss her dearly as she is special too.
We took our brother Anthonys' (Tony) ashes to be with our Granddad in Hokitika so made it hard to be in both places at once although we wanted to be with you all as well.
