Marlissa Marie Kanyo

Marlissa Marie Kanyo, 72, of Nashwauk, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024, at her residence.

Marlissa was born September 18, 1952, in Lompoc, Calif., to Loyd and Rita (Starkey) Flannigan. On August 5, 1989 she was united in marriage to Roy Kanyo in White, Minn.

Marlissa loved to crochet hats-she was nicknamed the "Hat Lady". She gave her hats to people all over Minnesota. She made hats for the AEOA who then distributed them to grade schools, breast cancer survivors, ladies going through chemo therapy, and kindergartens.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Kanyo; brothers,William "Bill" (Roberta) Flannigan and David (Susan) Flannigan; sons, Jeffery (Brynn) Johnson and Roy Kanyo II; daughters,Tracy Flannigan and Christina Kanyo; grandchildren: Nichole and Clayton Burlison, Isiah Allen, Damien Johnson, and Christopher Johnson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marlissa was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Rita Flannigan; and brother, Danny Flannigan.

A Memorial service will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Range Funeral Home in Hibbing. Visitation begins at noon and continues until the service at 1:00 pm.
