I´ve just learnt of Dan´s passing. I first met him at Invercargill Hospital when he was purchasing manager, I was a rep for a medical company. We met up again through NZ Sterile Services Association as he was treasurer. We frequently used to swap jokes so wondered why he wasn´t replying. He had told me he wasn´t well. He is now in Paradise but not the one he promised to take me (Queenstown) :) condolences to the family

Dan worked as a pharmacist at Kew for many years with my father, Tony Chiaroni. After dad's retirement, Dan continued to be a great friend and support to him, and we seven children would often see Dan when we were visiting dad in Invercargill and he dropped in. My brothers and sisters have all commented in email exchanges these past few days what a lovely, warm, gentle man he was. Our condolences to you who are left behind and feeling his loss.

Daniel made a huge contribution to U3A Invercargill. His ability to analyse a situation, to learn new skills, and share his knowledge with others was truly remarkable. We shall all miss him very much.
My condolences to Jo and family.

Hello to Joanne Hamish Jackie & families,
On behalf of Peter, Jenny, Janine, Ruth families I extend our empathy at the sadness of Daniels Passing.
We were neighbor's for over 50yrs, Sharing the growing up of our children. Daniel would seek me on Technical matters & Anne would share with my wife Mary, They were both senior nursing sisters. I sought Daniels advice quite on few times on questions of a chemistry
nature. We became close enough, that on one occasion when they knew we had some very old English friends coming to visit,& they were going to be away for a few weeks. They loaned their home to us for a week. They said it would be more comfortable for the oldies to have their own space. We were ever so grateful as were our old friends from Auckland.
I am going to miss having Daniel around to have debates on all manner of subjects, which with writing letters to the newspaper he loved to be engaged in.
They were wonderful neighbors. I will miss that couple who were for so long at 228 Talbot Street.
Very Very Sincerely, Graeme J.
