Claire HORRELL Obituary
(nee Prendergast):
Peacefully, on Monday, April 3, 2023, in her 96th year. Dearly loved wife of the late Bill, cherished mother and mother-in-law of Susan*, Rohan and Jenny, Anne-Marie and Struan McCrostie, Lisa and Shane Thompson, and Zella Downing, adored Nana of her grandchildren, Zelia, Zack, and Zeb; Megan, Sarah, and Joe; Bobby and David; and her 4 great-grandchildren. Following a private family mass and interment, a joyful celebration of Claire's life will be held at the Riversdale Community Centre, Berwick Street, on Wednesday, April 12, at 2.00pm. There will be an opportunity for those who would like to share stories and anecdotes or memories of Claire at this service. Claire was a wonderful inspiration and encouragement to many of us younger tennis players. She could out win us too for many years. Also as an umpire ,coach and organizer for Riversdale hockey. To her we were most grateful. It was wonderful she had such a long life!

Claire was an amazing person with a wonderful passion for sport and family. Claire was at the forefront of many junior sports in Northern Southland, in particular hockey and tennis. Claire´s organisational skills with junior tennis were legendary. Northern Tennis owes Claire Horrell a huge amount of gratitude, a legacy that will never be forgotten. Sincere Condolences to all your family. Claire was my Promary School Infant mistress at Dipton School and both her and Bill were great friends whilst we wer at Riversdale. Will be so fondly remembered.
