Christopher RIDDELL Obituary

RIDDELL,
Christopher (Chris):
With great sadness, after a long courageous battle, Chris left us, peacefully, at his home, on January 17, 2022. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Jane for 48 years, and loved father of his children Megan and Melanie and their partners. Loved grandad of Eli, Ethan, Seth, Luke and Jessie. Loved son of Jack and Isobel, and son-in-law of Nora and Allan Devery. Loved brother of Trevor, Bill, Gerry, Bernie, Kevin, John, Paul, Julian, Colleen, Carol, Glenys, Pat and their partners. Loved brother-in-law of Kathryn, Michael, John and partners, friend of Peter. Grateful thanks to Hospice in Oamaru and Dunedin, especially to Bridget and Rachael for all their support and advice, and all the wonderful District Nurses and carers. We would never have coped at home without you all. Special thanks to Dr Jon Scott for his considerate and attentive care. Chris had a cheeky sense of humour which will be missed by all of us. There will be a huge void in our family. He also enjoyed seeing his friends at the Oamaru Club. A private cremation has been held and a family memorial will take place at a later date.
In Chris' humorous words
Born, Lived, Died, Gone!
He will be very sadly missed.

So sorry to hear of Chris' passing. I attended Marist with him and Julian. It's been many years since I spoke to him( I live in Vancouver) but he was one of the good guys for sure.

Sincere condolences to the Riddell and Devery families on the loss of your precious Chris. I knew him at St Pats back in the good old days. He certainly was a bright spark then and gave the nuns a run for their money. He will be sorely missed.

To Bernie and family, so sorry to hear of Chris' passing. You will all miss him, especially because you were such a close family growing up. He will leave a very big hole. But fill it with the beautiful memories he left behind. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Arohanui from Susan Clark, nee McMurdo

Remember Chris from Nichol street and school many years ago. Top bloke, genuine good guy with a great sense of humour and a very quick witted guy who was totally out of your league if you wanted to match him. Sorry to hear of his passing.
