I knew John well as fellow Greenock academy pupils.Played rugby there . Also often same train travelling to school. John from Gourock with me joining at Fort Matilda. Blethering together on walk from West station to old Academy on Nelson street. I missed him when he went off to Watt college and then to sea with Ben line.Sent mail to me sometimes from his ship,Ben Cleuch or Ben Ledi from exotic seaports.Made me quite envious. RIP John.

I have known John for a very long time. I have sailed with him on numerous occasions. He was a very good friend of mine as we both arrived in NZ at the same time. He will be sadly missed by my wife and I. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family.

It was with great sadness to read of John passing away. I remember very well during my working days at South Port at Bluff. He was a interesting man to talk to. The cricket games during lunch breaks with other Southport staff on the lawn between my workshop and main office. Rest In Peace John.

So sorry to read of John´s passing. We have such fond memories of our neighbourhood days in Terrace St ...the daily jogging group, our regular "get togethers" with the Hendersons, Farrells and Youngs, various social occasions and a couple of trips away travelling together. John was always great company with a wonderful sense of humour. It was a privilege to know John and Wendy, and our thoughts are with you Karly and Callum, and families. Sorry we can´t be with you today. With our deepest sympathy, Ross and Judy and Family
