Bryant McKENZIE Obituary

Bryant's photo shone from page 4 in this week's Express. I had just opened it and happy memories from Wallacetown School hit me as I exclaimed to Bryant "Great photo! Good on you becoming a fireman! And keeping your beautiful smile!! What have you been up to?"
Then I read of his passing. That stunned me.

Dear Fiona and David,
Your Bryant's amazing attitude to learning, the way he applied himself and the manner he expressed himself as a young student was a credit both to him and you his loving family.
For you to lose him is heart wrenching.
To know he is with Jesus is awesome and uplifting.

I was lucky enough to know Bryant through Softball, as his coach and I also for to play with him as he got older. I was delighted to see Bryant just before Christmas when he umpired our game, he greeted me warmly with a hug and I so happy to know he was back playing.

Bryant was one the most appreciative players I've ever had the pleasure of coaching. He always came to say thank you after training and games and asked if he could help carry gear. Bryant was open and honest about where he was at in terms of his playing and head space, and that is a rarity in a young player so it was always an easy decision to start him.

To hear of his sudden passing was a terrible shock, I am so sorry for your loss and I am thinking of you all at this devasting time.
