Melvin Carter Obituary

Melvin Pihl Carter, of Monroeville, formerly of Murrysville, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002. He was a 1951 graduate of Northeastern University, Boston, Mass. He was a service engineer for Westinghouse Electric for over 30 years, served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Murrysville. He is survived by his wife, Janet Gilman Carter; two sons, Wayne of Greensburg and Warren of Johnstown; a daughter, Valerie McCormick of New Galilee; and seven grandchildren. No visitation. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Murrysville, with the Rev. Mary Grey Emmett officiating. If desired, memorials may be made to the church or to Monroeville Rescue 4.
