Brian Baird (Nick):
On August 30, 2020. Peacefully at Rowena Jackson Village; aged 89 years. Loved husband of the late Barbara, loved Dad and Pop of Trudy and Rob, Hannah, Josh, Olivia and Tim and Arabella; Gilly and Elijah Kennard. Loved brother-in-law and uncle of the Murray family. Our deepest thanks for the wonderful care Nick received at Rowena Jackson Village over the past year. A private service has been held. Messages to 3 McNab Street, Gore 9710.

Hello Trudy and your extended family.
My name is John Horan and as a young sports person I joined the "Cub's Basketball Club back in the early 1960's. Your Dad was a great basketball player and an excellent coach but more than that he was a great person of integrity and smiling friendship and we all knew him as "Uncle Nick" I even knew you as a young child growing up with Aunty Barb and Uncle Nick. Your Dad was a great guy and I respected him greatly before I joined the NZ Army in 1967. He will always remain in my memory as one of the mentors that shaped my future life. I celebrate his life he was a great friendly person. So my "Aroha" is with all your family in your loss of such a wonderful person.

Sorry to read that Nick has past away. I have known Nick over 65 years and regard him as a good friend. Nick was an outstanding Basketball player for Southland and represented Southland for many years. Nick also enjoyed playing badminton, golf and was a capable Bridge player. He also enjoy horse racing..
Our thoughts are with the Family at this sad time.
