BETH REID Obituary

In loving memory of Beth Reid - Born October 31, 1955, and passed away peacefully, November 5, 2025. Born at Saint Mary's Hospital in Montreal, Beth "Cecily Elizabeth" Reid was the eldest of seven children of the late Donald and Kathleen (Kitty) Reid. Dear sister and sister-in-law of (the late Peter and Nancy Downer), Robert and (the late Conchetta DiFrancesco), Heather and (the late John Zsolt), John and Dr. Jennifer Walker, David and Dr. Cathy Cameron, and (the late Tracy Eva MacKenzie) and (the late Rosemary) and James Young. Cherished aunt to Christopher, Caitlin, Matthew, Michael, Maria, Jillian, Haley, and Ava, and (the late Siobhan Meagan), Beth had a remarkable ability to make each niece and nephew feel uniquely special. She took time to share in their interests and celebrate their milestones. Her family and friends will always remember her beautiful cards, kind words, and genuine interest in their lives. Family and friendship were everything to her. She fostered deep connection, loyalty, and care among all who were fortunate to be part of her world. Beth attended St. Joseph's Morrow Park High School and later graduated from George Brown College and the St. Michael's Hospital School of Nursing, where she was proudly named valedictorian of the Class of 1976. Her early career began at the Truro Infirmary Hospital in New Orleans before she drove across Canada in 1980 to begin a remarkable 40-year career at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver. There, she worked in medical-surgical, urology, palliative, and geriatric care. Beth was known for her compassion, loyalty, and dedication. She was a teacher, mentor, and gracious listener whose warmth and professionalism touched countless lives. Beth loved to travel, swimming, sailing, canoeing, skiing, entertaining and photography. She explored China in 1985, snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef, and sailed through the Queen Charlotte Islands. Her love of community and the outdoors began early through her lifelong involvement in Girl Guides of Canada. She was a proud Brownie, Guide, and Ranger, later becoming a Guide Leader with the 7th Thornhill Guide Company. At Doe Lake Provincial Girl Guide Camp, she served as a waterfront instructor and canoe specialist. She also cherished summers at Camp Lavigerie in the Adirondack Mountains, where she built friendships that lasted a lifetime. Beth's life was defined by generosity, grace, and kindness. She was a loyal friend, a compassionate nurse, a devoted sister and daughter and an extraordinary aunt. Her legacy of love, laughter, and care will continue to inspire all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Water First (waterfirst.ngo), a cause close to Beth's heart.

I got to know Beth through my sister Maureen Lee, who also passed away this year. Maureen was the fourth on the China trip. Beth was a lovely person who was interesting and interested, in so much and so many, including even my kids and grandkids. Our condolences to you all. Diane and John McGuigan

I was Beth's down the hall neighbour for 25 years in the Wellington Apartments, Vancouver. I am sure going to miss our hallway chats, or doing "tasks" for her and for each task, I always got a hand written note under my door the next day. Beth gave me a Audubon Bird Clock out of the blue one day and on the hour I get one 12 different bird songs. I soooo appreciate that clock and now when I'm home and on the hour I will either an Eastern Meadowlark, or Yellow Warbler reminding me of my fantastic neighbour, Beth Reid.
