Sad to hear of the passing of Robin. He always went out of his way to help with my mustang and never charged enough. Great times had over a few beers back in Pram.
Our thoughts are with Vicky and the family.

Thinking of you all going through this sad time in your lives. He will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends. He was definitely one of the good eggs in life.

As my brother Rex, unable to write this due to ill health, has asked me to share some of his memories of Silky. As friends from Stokes Valley in the 1960's who went to Taita College together, often cycling, from Stokes Valley, both shared an interest in mechanics. Things started to get serious in the early '70's when they both imported a V8 engine each. Silky a Chev of course and Rex a Ford. Silky's went into the yellow Vauxhall Victor. That set the seed for speed!
Another memory Rex had was the day they decided to do a Sunday drive from Stokes Valley to Taupo for the day in Silky"s big red '64 Chev Impala convertable, complete with the lid down all the way and girlfriends at the time by their sides. That was considered super cool back then. Rex and girlfriend in the back seat suffered wind burn for days after.
Some of my memories:- In the early 1970's Silky's first job was apprentice auto electrician at Lucas in Lower Hutt.
We bought an old Fordson Truck and with Silky's and Rex's skills turned it into a river buggy complete with two gear boxes and duel wheels and had lots of fun up the Orongaronga Valley. I remember Silky's green FC and black HT Holdens with the big mags. In 1976 we both volunteered to join the Territorial Army. Both went to Burnham camp and after basic training Robin went to join the Electrical and mechanical engineers(EME).
Lots of good memories, far too many to tell.
Farewell old friend.
The Cornick brothers, Eric and Rex.
