So sorry to hear of Dick's passing. I spent many a summer scorekeeping with Brian (Nicholls) who was Dick's ADA for Little League.
Nothing was more fun than watching them stress together:)
As a kid nothing could beat Dick's yelling STRIKE when I watched him umpire. You knew when he was umping behind the plate!
I also had many a conversation with Dick in the early morning hours while he was in the coffee shop working on his puzzles. Your family should be so proud of what a kind, generous and thoughtful man Dick was.

Dear Suzanne & family,
My sincerest condolences on your family's great loss. Your Dad was one of the friendliest and kindest gentleman I have ever known. I really enjoyed my chats over the years with him, when I would see him around town. What a wonderful legacy he has left behind in our community.
Thinking of you and your family at this difficult time and hoping you find peace and comfort in your cherished memories.
Sincerely,
Susanne Poirier

Where to start? I first met Dick when he was umpiring in the Ladies Fastball League. He took no guff and was usually right in his calls, even if we didn't always agree. Then I started at Fort Ignition and Dick was at the LCBO. we always enjoyed it when he came in to get a part or some free advice. I also used to see him at the Ortona legion at lunchtime. He was always happy and passed it on to all around him. We use to think he made up his wife as we never saw her, but knew she was the love of his life. I will sure miss Dick as he was a memorable character.
